Free time

Boasting over 330 days of sunshine, Oudtshoorn is ideal for outdoor activities. The small Karoo town has an abundance of plant and bird life and lies nestled between the Outeniqua Mountains and the Swartberg Mountains (also recognised as a World Heritage Site).

Oudtshoorn is also rich in culture and history, evident in the magnificent sandstone "Feather Palaces" that have survived since the "feather boom" early in the 20th century.

Note that, although Oudtshoorn is known as the ostrich capital of the world this is only one of the attractions that keep tourists flocking to the town. From the world renowned Cango Caves to Game drives, Nature hikes, Cycling down the Swartberg Mountain Pass and an excellent selection of fine wines... there is undoubtedly no lack of activities to keep you entertained during your stay.

Cango Caves

The Cango Caves is only one of the natural wonders of the Klein Karoo & Oudtshoorn. An underground jewel in the heart of the Swartberg Mountain Range. Visitors can choose between the standard tour (60min) or the adventure tour (90min). Open every day except on Christmas day.
